Tiger Woods Breaks His Silence

The long awaited speech from Tiger Woods has come, and it sounds just as phony as the person giving the speech. Tiger confesses in his speech, "I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated" he says, "I thought I could get away with anything I wanted to ... I thought I was entitled ... I don't get to play by different rules."

Tiger continues to talk about how disappointed he is that he let all those parents down that pointed at him for a role model. On that he says, "Parents used to point to me as a role model for their kids. I owe all those families a special apology."

On his apology to Elin, Tiger says that it will come with time and that what they discuss is a private matter between them. He also says that he is not done with rehab "Starting tomorrow, I will leave for more treatment and more therapy."

Here is a full excerpt of the speech:

"I want to say to each of you simply and directly: I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible, selfish behavior... I know people want to find out how i could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin and to my children. And while I have always tried to be a private person, there are some things i want to say,"

"Elin and I have started the procress of discussing the damage caused by my behavior," he explained, adding, "My real apology .. will come from my behavior. We have a lot to discuss. What we say to each other will remain between the two of us."

A few key notes:

"Elin didn't hit me that night or any other night ... Elin deserves praise, not blame."


"I ask you to find room in your heart to one day believe in me again. Thank you."


"I do plan to return to golf one day, but I don't know when that will be."

As far as the paparazzi:

"Leave my wife and kids alone."

Tiger Woods should of thought about the negative media attention he was going to bring on to his family when he was having all those affairs. For him to say that he wants the paparazzi to leave his wife and kids alone is ludicrous. He brought that on to them, not the paparazzi. Once you become a news story Tiger, you no longer have the right to ask for privacy.

His apology seemed tailored to address all the issues that people wanted to hear and was carefully crafted to seem like it was a confession, when in reality he did not reveal more then we already knew. Do you accept Tiger Wood's phony apology?
