Britney Spears checks herself into Malibu rehab center

Well, thank God! Britney, with coaxing of her family and friends, checked herself into a rehab facility in Malibu. The pop princess and tabloid favorite has gone through a serious public meltdown in the last week.
Here is the statement released by her manager today:

"Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

It's really funny that they ask that the media respect her privacy, yet she has been whoring herself to the paparazzi since her break-up with Kevin. I love how celebrities want "privacy" from the media when they have a meltdown, yet they are the ones that place themselves in the spotlight to begin with. Unfortunately for Britney, the media is definitively not going anywhere. As a matter of fact, they are going to be covering her like there is no tomorrow.
The media is not a switch you just turn on and off when you want to, once it's on, it's on, you can't turn it off until the light burns out.
