Video: J. Lo Gets Candid with Matt Lauer

(Manhattan, New York) Singer/judge Jennifer Lopez opened up to Matt Lauer about being the most beautiful woman on the planet, her divorce and of course American Idol.

J Lo tells Matt Lauer that it's "weird" and "nice" to be called the most beautiful woman in the planet and almost "surreal" at the same time.  She told Matt that it felt nice that they had picked a woman in her 40's instead of a 21 year old model.

When asked why she held off so long to sign back on to American Idol, she said it was an exhaustion thing and not an ego thing.  She felt so tired from everything that was going on in her life because Idol was not the only commitment she had that year.  In the end, Idol was so much fun that she decided to sign on anyways but she also could have walked away from the uber popular show.

She talked about her new show "Q' Viva" with estranged husband Marc Anthony and how it's OK that they are working together on the show because they will always be friends and have worked together in the past.

She tells Matt-

"Marc and i were friends before we got married for years. we always loved each other. we always worked together. it wasn't an unnatural thing for us to continue working together. obviously we have children together. so it's not like he's not going to be in my life. he always will be. i don't know. it's a passion project for us. it has difficult moments but it's still a great thing we are doing and that we feel we are doing."


"we have those moments. we're human. i'm not going to sit here and lie about that. but at the end of the day there is real love there. there is family there. that comes first. and at the end of the day we also love this project. like i said, as it has difficult moments once in a while when we're together, just because of the same things as when we were married."

Later in the interview, Matt Lauer puts Jennifer Lopez in the spot by asking her -

"here's what you said to vanity fair. sometimes we don't realize we are compromising ourselves to understand that a person is not good for you or that the person is not treating you in the right way or treating himself in the right way if i stay i'm not doing the right thing for me. i love myself enough to walk away..."
 >> can you explain it more?"

Jennifer Lopez dodges the statement by answering-

"no, i can't. do you know why? everything i wanted to say about the divorce i said in that article. marc and i agreed we weren't going to talk about it publically again. it really is our personal life. we have children. it's something we have to respect and keep sacred. at the end of the day we're working together. we have a lot of love for each other. we're human and it's not the easiest thing in the world but we handled it with grace and caring. and a lot of love."
