(New York, NY) Former dancer, Wade Robson, gave an exclusive interview to the Today Show where he opened up to Matt Lauer about Michael Jackson, why he kept mum for so long, and why he has decided to come out now with the sexual abuse allegations.
Wade Robson alleges that Michael Jackson molested him from the age of 7 to 14 years old and told him that if he ever told anybody, both he and Michael would go to jail for the rest of their lives.
Since the first day of the sexual abuse, Michael Jackson would allegedly tell Wade that what they were doing was love and only an expression of love, but if he ever told anyone, both their lives and careers would be over.
When Wade was older and Michael Jackson was going through his 1993 trial, Michael would call him and role play with him in case anyone was to ask him questions. At 11 years, Michael told him that they both would go to jail if he ever told anyone.
Fast forward to 2004, when Wade played star witness for Jackson's child molestation trial, and helped him win his case because he was so convincing in his testimony that he had never been sexually molested by Michael. He claims the only reason he sounded so believable was because he hadn't admitted to himself that what had transpired between him and Michael was abuse, and not 'love' like Michael had told him -
"I said what I understood and I said what I was able to say. From 7 hears old, from day one of the abuse, Michael told me that we loved each other and that this was love. That this was and expression of love."
The realization of the real truth came when he had two nervous breakdowns after the birth of his son. He didn't understand the first one, but on the second nervous breakdown he said he found himself looking at his son and being horrified that the same thing would happen to him. He then realized that he had a lot of feelings about Michael and the abuse that allegedly took place that he needed to explore.
Wade tells Matt Lauer - "I have never forgotten one moment what Michael did to me, but I was psychologically and emotionally completely unable and unwilling to understand that it was sexual abuse."
Matt then asked Wade - Did Michael Jackson ever perform sexual acts on you? Did he force you to perform sexual acts on him? he responded, "Yes. Exactly what you said, he performed sexual acts on me and forced me to perform sexual acts on him."
Any thoughts?
