Olympian winner Michael Phelp caught smoking marijuana

Fourteen time Olympian winner Michael Phelps has been caught smoking marijuana. The British newspaper, News of the World, broke the story with a picture of Michael Phelps taking a hit of a water pipe. Although there was a lot of speculation that the guy in the photo wasn't Michael Phelps, the story turned out to be true when Michael himself released an apology for what he done. Michael released this statement through the Associated Press:

“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

What's worse for Michael then the whole world knowing that he likes to enjoy a little cannabis is that he could possibly be stripped of his 14 gold medals. The World Anti-Doping Agency just released a 4 year ban of any sports figure that was involved with drugs. Phelp's swimming coach and the Us Olympics Committee have also both pledged no tolarance with drugs, both groups have refused to comment on the scandal.
Being that Phelps is the "golden goose" to the Olympics, it will be interesting to see what they will do over the drug use. Could it be possible that the world's greatest swimmer will not be attending the next Olympics? Only time will tell.
